
Raymond Chong Chin Wah took over the reins of Ramsay Sime Darby Health Care (RSDH) in Asia as Group Chief Executive Officer on 1 December 2020.
Raymond returns to Malaysia after several years abroad where he held senior management level positions in the healthcare industry with private hospitals and medical supply chain organizations. With over 30 years in healthcare, Raymond has extensive expertise and cross-culture experience in managing hospitals in Australia, Thailand and Malaysia.
Taking the lead at one of Asia’s trusted healthcare service providers, Raymond plays a pivotal role in steering forward the RSDH three hospitals in Malaysia, three other hospitals in Indonesia and a modern world-class private ambulatory centre in Hong Kong as the world continues to deal with the impact of the pandemic. He reports directly to the Board of RSDH.
Raymond’s long-term focus remains on quality and patient safety across all existing facilities. In addition to that, RSDH is committed to expand its footprint across the region and innovate to meet the changing demands and landscape of the healthcare sector.
The Group will continue to be vigilant and develop processes and measures to ensure we stay at the forefront in fighting the pandemic and delivering safe care to our customers. There will be an increase in emphasis on customer experience, digitalization and introduction of new services to provide holistic care. In line with the Group’s philosophy “People caring for people”, RSDH will continue to develop its internal resources and engagement to build a truly caring and committed environment for our customers.
Prior to joining RSDH, Raymond was CEO of Bangkok Dusit Medical Service, managing the hospital group Samitivej Public Company Limited and various healthcare wellness businesses in Thailand including the commissioning of a 294-room wellness resort catering for residential medical and wellness programmes. He has held various posts in private hospitals and medical supply chain businesses over the years with extensive regional and international experience in Southeast Asia and with St. John of God Healthcare System in Australia.
Raymond was nominated for the ‘100 Next-Era CEOs in Asia’ by Japan Times in 2010 and he speaks regularly on IT and innovation in healthcare. He has a Bachelor of Business from Curtin University of Technology, Australia.
