Time : 10am – 11am

“Opening Pandora’s box: Living With Cancer – is that possible?”

In Greek mythology, Pandora(‘pan’ means all,‘dora’ means gifts) was given a jar, which she was never to open. However, curiosity got the better of her, and when it was opened– all the evils of the world flew out leaving only HOPE inside. Nevertheless, the forum has been intentionally titled so – because we believe our highly qualified panellists will bring about awareness, encourage channels of thought, question and discussion on an area of life that most would prefer to deny exist or “bury in a box”?

In Malaysia, the lifetime risk for cancer in men is 1 in 10 whilst for women, 1 in 9 (Malaysian National Cancer Registry Report 2007-2011). As medical progress improves treatment and management of many diseases, one day, perhaps, ALL not just some cancers will also be just another disease to cure or if otherwise, a chronic illness to control.

Join our experts in this interactive panel discussion as we break taboos and tackle issues such as:

  • Can I live normally with cancer?
  • How can we wade through the menu of options when faced with this diagnosis when we might not
even know how to think about risks, pros and cons?
  • How do we find the courage to seek the truth of the situation and then, the courage to act on the
    truth we find?
  • Are doctors confusing treatment with care?

(and many more!)

Panellists : Mdm Chang Chu San, Ms Ranjit Kaur, Dr Ednin Hamzah, Mr Paul Jambunathan,

Dato’ Dr Yip Cheng Har, Dr Ivan Shew Yee Siang
